Rumor of track removal on the south end
« on: July 12, 2015, 01:35:21 pm »
There is heavy chatter on another thread about CSX pulling up all the sidings except for Vernia in anticipation of full abandonment from Bedford to New Albany. One reply indicates an affirmation from a current employee. Like I said - chatter - rumor.

Sad to imagine, but with the approval of CSX using L&I tracks, the Monon tracks would be redundant.  And getting a CSX train through the NS yards and across the K&I bridge consistantly would be a major challenge.  They keep the bridge occupied almost constantly.  Also, I believe the CSX must pay a fee to NS for each car crossing their tracks.

According to posts on the Indiana Railroads Bull Session, track removal on the sidings is underway.

Todays's report is that the siding at Borden has been removed, next stop Pekin, then Fogg next week. There will be some photos posted in the "Bull site" soon.
