EMD BL2 Inserts for manual changes
« on: October 21, 2018, 02:02:59 pm »
I do not remember where I got this file from.
Looks like an addition to the original manual.

Does anyone have the full manual?

Click below to open or save it, is a pdf file.

I think I have seen an F3 operators manual somewhere online, and I will try to do some digging for it in the next day or two.

At a guess, the manual you uploaded looks to be a summary of the differences between the F3 and the nearly-identical-except-for bodywork BL-2. In any event, it's a really nice find...thanks for posting, Rick!

I have a Monon F-3 Operator's Manual at my folk's house. Next time I am there I will add this insert to it, once I print it out. Thank you for posting it Rick!

I seem to have two of these.  They are the Instructor's guides for the F2, but they say on the inside that they are usable for the F3.

Also they both have Cookie's stamp on the front.

I'm trying to scan the whole thing, but it's surprisingly large and my scanner is not cooperating.

Rick, I have copies of all the Monon locomotive diesel operator's manuals.  I need to scan them when I have time.  They might make good material for a new CD.  Would love to find one for a Monon steam locomotive if they ever had such a thing??  / Ron

That is a thought, you would think they would have had one.

I've finally dug out the CI&L specific F2/F3 Operator's Manual, dated June 1, 1947, with unit numbers from their initial order of Freight F3's.  Interestingly, it already has the BL2 insert incorporated in blue paper, which I hadn't noticed before. Here's a few photos of the manual. I have, and have seen, other F3 operator manuals, but none that have the Monon specific pages in it.

And the cover, with the intro and some handwritten notes. Anyone know Lawrence A. O'Conner?

Rick- that looks like it must be the guy. Not sure how I missed him when I looked through the employee list.
