BL-2 trade in?
« on: May 15, 2019, 02:45:05 pm »
I saw this on one of the Facebook sites devoted to Chicagoland railroad history. Now, what would a Monon BL-2 be doing at the Rocket House at 47th Street in Chicago? The only thing that makes sense to me is that this may be one of the units they sold to the CRI&P for their use as a trade-in. If that's the case I guess it would be #36. It's the first photo I've seen of a Monon engine this far off the C&WI in Chicago at any rate. It's not the su[not allowed]ect of the photo, but there's no denying its Monon heritage!

Found confirmation through this website of the 36 at Rock Island's 47th St. Yard in 1970.
