The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum (HVRM), located in North Judson, IN, has announced that regularly-scheduled work sessions will begin soon for museum members and other volunteers to start the teardown process of Monon SW1 #DS-50 as well as former-Monon transfer caboose #81551. You are invited to help with these efforts.
Work sessions will generally be three-day events over a Friday to Sunday weekend, although volunteers are also welcome to participate for just one or two of those scheduled days. Some of the upcoming work on DS-50 will include removing air, mechanical and electrical components from the damaged cab as well as the replacement cab; cab floor removal; underframe cleaning for air and fuel tank reinstallation; step well and pilot repair; car body removal and much more. Tentative work sessions have been scheduled for:
June 26th-28th
July 16th-18th
July 30th-August 1st
