I saw a posting from the Nevada Northern Railway on Facebook today that alluded to Conductor uniform buttons they wanted to get for their passenger operations. This led them to find the Waterbury Button Company. This 200 year old company even has the original Dies for making all manner of uniform buttons for a bevy of things, railroads included. The Monon is one of the roads they have tooling for, and there are several versions and are available in various finishes, etc.! Here's the link to their website with focus on the Monon uniform buttons available. No idea as to pricing or lead times, but very interesting anyway. This seems like a natural for the Company Store where any potential minimum order size would be less of an issue, and then could resell in smaller batches.
