Monon Steam at Dearborn
« on: September 09, 2016, 10:26:23 am »
Another video has been brought to my attention on YouTube:
Blackhawk Films "Steam Trains Out Of Dearborn", filmed from the mid-1930's to late 1940's by Mr. Gene Miller is a keeper! At about 3:05 it shows Pacific 420 leading a morning departure Southbound across 21st St. Crossing followed by Pacific 444 at the same spot. Great stuff. It's too bad there isn't more Monon content, but it would still be worth a look, if only for the C&WI action.

The C&EI Railroad Historical Society has produced a DVD containing the STEAM TRAINS OUR OF DEARBORN film as well as SMOKE & STEAM ON THE C&EI.  Both movies were filmed by Gene Miller in the 1930s to late 1940s around Evansville, Terre Haute, Vincennes, and Chicago.  You can order a copy from the C&EI HS website www.ceihs.org
