The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum (HVRM), located in North Judson, IN, has announced that regularly-scheduled work sessions will begin soon for museum members and other volunteers to dot the teardown process of Monon SW1 #DS-50 as well as former-Monon transfer caboose #81551 and the Monon box car #1220. You are invited to help with these efforts.

Work sessions will generally be three-day events over a Friday to Sunday weekend, although volunteers are also welcome to participate for just one or two of those scheduled days. Some of the upcoming work on DS-50 will include removing air, mechanical and electrical components from the damaged cab as well as the replacement cab; cab floor removal; underframe cleaning for air and fuel tank reinstallation; step well and pilot repair; car body removal and much more. Tentative work sessions have been scheduled for:

The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum (HVRM), now has the Monon caboose 81532 and the Monon business car #2 (The Lynne). Work sessions to put these into regular operation will be done also.

There is something fun for every skill level. For those interested in becoming a member and lending a hand in these important and historic restorations. If you need additional information about the restoration work, you are welcome to contact:

HVRM President, Todd Flanigan, at toddfcn@gmail.com or (219) 616-0148. Thank you. HVRM Staff.

Also, the HVRM got a gift of the Sturbridge BL2s #52 and #56 and are now on site. Both are in operational condition and sure look like they have great paint jobs.

The units are owned by Ken Davenport, who also owns box car #1220, caboose #81551 and DS-50 that are also at HVRM. Both of these units were originally Bangor & Aroostook #52 and 56 and later on the Janesville & Southeastern. SNC 52 was used in excursion service on Iowa Pacific Holding's Saratoga and North Creek in New York state.

The Monon projects continue ongoing at Hoosier Valley!

Much more still to do, but we're getting there!
