Hammond Times article and high-angle photo of DS-50 along side J-1 507 at the South end of South Hammond yard, February 11. 1942. (I also included one of the entire article,as I wasn't happy with the way the photo portion degraded on that screen grab.)

Eric,

Thanks for posting this.  As we all know, DS-50 was the Monon's first ever diesel and is currently being restored in North Judson (HVRM).  It is owned by Ken Davenport.

The Monon Society looked into the possibility of acquiring the Monon's last diesel - U23B #608.  After the merger with the L&N, the unit was L&N #2707, SBD #2707, SBD #3237 and CSX #3237.  Unfortunately we didn't have enough money or a place to put the unit.
