Once again, a high-quality issue has graced my mailbox. The centerfold shot of 3 C628's at M Tower in Louisville is one of the best Monon prints I have in my collection...
A hint to the Board and the Editor: I would pay for a clean, rolled-not-folded copy of that picture (without staples, suitable for framing) if it were to be offered. Just let me know where to send the check.

MRRHTS #349 - what year did I join, anyway? Must have been around 1984 but I can't remember.

Mark,
Thanks for your kind comments about the August THL. The Monon membership database doesn't record your starting year of membership, but as a guideline, member #376 has a starting year of 1983. The membership years are assigned in chronological order unless there was an interruption in membership for a person.

Thanks, George...I knew I had joined somewhere about that time - by 1986 I was writing for THL, you may recall.
Pray tell, what is our current 'highest' membership number and how many active, current members do we have? [I know folks come and go, so the latest member number is likely to be way higher than the count. Another organization I belong to, in existence just over 62 years, currently has 7700 members and our latest membership number is around 108000 or so. For the record, I joined in 1969 and am #14025 there.]

I spent my teen years riding 2-cylinder John Deere tractors along the Monon near Leipsic. What kid could ask for better?

Mark,
Currently, 2044 is the highest number we have in the active membership database and I suspect that we haven't assigned anything higher. We do purge members that become inactive. A good measure of the number of active members is how many THLs we mail and that number is in the low 400s.

George:
Thanks for the info. Our membership numbers tell me we are a healthy special-interest historical society - nearly the same number of 'registered Monon fans' as there were Monon employees on merger day in 1971 :D :D

WRP has been advised of THL delivery issues this month and will contact the USPS about the problem.
