I wasn't aware that the Monon painted a special Boxcar for the Friendship Train. The Kingan Lard wound up on the car in Indianapolis I gather.

A Hammond Times search has yielded another photo of the Monon Boxcar at the Freight Station in Downtown Hammond. From what I've read at the newspapers dot com website, the Calumet Region's donations were a major disappointment.

The Monon painted (12) total boxcars with the "FRIENDSHIP TRAIN" logos. Evidently only (7) were needed for the donations. Here are articles from the Lafayette Journal & Courier from November 8th and 14th, 1947. Wonder how long they stayed painted that way?
