Title: lynching on covered RR bridge at Salem
Post by: Ken Weller on June 29, 2013, 06:42:30 pm
See attached: 3 portions of an 1873 news article from an Evansville newspaper, about a lynching in Salem, resulting in a death by haning from a covered railroad bridge.
Probably a Monon bridge - but which one?
Cecil - what do you know about this?

Ken, I believe that's the same incident about which I posted an article a few days ago.  The lynching apparently happened on the stone arch bridge just north of the depot.  / Ron

PS, I believe Cecil is vacationing and won't be back for several weeks.
