Here are two former MONON covered hoppers. One went through on the 6th & the other was just a little while ago.

Thanks for keeping up with these former-Monon hoppers, Jim.  I used to see them frequently here in Cincinnati, but it's been a few years now since I've seen one.

George, the number of older covered hoppers right now is amazing. It must be all the frac sand, they are trying to squeeze all the miles they can out of them.

Jim,

Way back when, I contacted CSX in Florida about trying to pick up some of these older Monon hoppers with the thought of placing them in Indiana railroad museums including Linden.  I was surprised to find out that CSX really didn't have a lot of information about them, so maybe some are privately owned.

As you probably know, the two you spotted are former-Monon #52034 and #52056.
