Title: Passenger car steam heat

Here I go again...airbrake lines use gladhand connectors which automatically separate during uncoupling.  Steam heated passenger cars had steam pipes with metallic steam heat connectors.  Did these come apart automatically or did someone have to manually disconnect the two steam pipes?

They had to be manually disconnected.  /  Ron
