Jeffery Edward Reinert: Born in Hammond, IN, June 7,1942 died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday April 19, 2015. He is survived by his Wife of 52 years, Patricia A. (Nabors) Reinert, Son Eric J. (Rhonda) Reinert of Bolingbrook, IL , Son Paul C. (Heidi) Reinert of Kalamazoo, MI, Daughter Anne M. (Dean) Westerlund of Mora, MN, and Son Jonathon C. (Kathryn) Reinert of Winchester, CT. He is also survived by 9 Grandchildren and 4 Great-Grandchildren. He was preceded in Death by his Father and Mother, Edward P. and Bonnie R. Reinert, and by his younger Brother, Donald C. Reinert.
He retired as General Manager from Engineered Sinterings & Plastics, Inc. in Watertown, CT in 2007 after an entire career in the Powder Metal Industry, including over 20 years teaching Powder Metal Technology at Hennepin Technical College in Brooklyn Park, MN.
He loved all things steam-powered, especially locomotives, and was an avid HO scale modeler and member of the Monon Railroad Technical-Historical Society. He was indoctrinated into this love of steam early, having been allowed to climb on a live Monon steam locomotive when his Father took him for a visit to the South Hammond roundhouse at 4 years old and saw two engines (A Mikado and a Consolidation) under steam. A trip made unforgettable for a lifetime when Hostler Pete Koufas blew one of the Engine’s whistles inside the roundhouse while they stood on the deck plate in the cab of the other engine!
An avid reader, amateur historian, and backyard scientist, he quenched his thirst for knowledge broadly and deeply. He had an almost encyclopedic knowledge of ancient songs and jokes and was one of the funniest, smartest, kindest people you could ever meet. He will be sorely missed by all of those whose lives he touched.
He was a great Dad.
