I found the attached aerial view on the Internet (Flickr). The caption read that it was taken in 2006 and is the site of the Paisley bog (swamp) and the site of the Monon's Paisley Trestle. I can't tell what direction the photo was taken or where Cedar Lake might be located. Anyone got any ideas?

You are looking south. Cedar Lake would be behind you.

Thanks, Tom.

George,
Attached is an image I captured from Google Earth looking SSE from the south end of Cedar Lake that is almost identical to your photo.
You can see the old and new ROW in the foreground with Creston in the distance.

If you look in the center of the last posted aerial picture you can see the original "narrow gauge" row of the Monon before the Paisley Trestle.

is that hikeable or would you just sink into the swamp?

Part of the old ROW would be accessible, provided you have permission. From Creston, you can walk north, up a service road that was built over the old ROW. At one time the land was part of the Cedar Lake Gun Club, but I do not know if that organization is still around. It is solid, and will end in an area filled in back in the 60's to create a picnic area. From the north, you can still see the ROW and walk down it, provided you ask permission. The ROW is solid and it will end where the start of the trestle began. It is easier and better to see during winter. There are still some signal foundations along the old ROW.

Thanks Tom! Noted for a future hike opportunity
