I posted this question under "Generic Modeling" but got no response:
What color was this paint scheme? I am painting and lettering a batch for my "Midland Turn" job, and would like to get it right.
Thank you for your suggestions,

Roger. I believe these were painted Oxide or Mineral red. I have an email into Bob Schultz, who would know considering he rebuilt many of these.

Bob Schultz told me more than 10 years ago that he was part of the crew of car men that painted this particular scheme on hoppers. He said the colors were white on oxide red.

Thanks much guys!

Roger,
Somewhere there is a list Bob put together of the cars that were painted with the scheme. I'll see if I can find it. Maybe in a Hoosier Line article?

Hi Mike,
I don't recall seeing it, but then there's a lot of things that I don't recall!
Thanks you.

Roger,
I went through all the THLs I have and could not find it. The only mention of the script THL scheme I found was in an article by Mont where he states that one hopper and one boxcar were experimental re-paint schemes and not repeated....once again I find that my 'old gray goose' she ain't what she used to be. I might have confused Bob's list of the yellow and black cars with this issue.

Mike,
Thanks for taking the time. I'll just letter a few hoppers and boxcars in THL script because I like it. Nobody can prove me wrong!
