First, where on the Monon was this photo taken?
Second, what was the photographer standing on to get this elevated shot?
Third, why is there a caboose on the end of a passenger consist?

Freight appears to be northbound leaving Lafayette. Taken with long lens from U.S. 52 bridge over main. Caboose probably pulled off the rear of a southbound freight now coupled with passenger cars to be shoved into yard and switched accordingly after NB freight passes.

I have a fourth question: Why is the freight train headed by a passenger F3?

I agree with Pete on the location.
Work Train?
It was after the F's were renumbered with the A/B designation - perhaps just short on power???

I darkened the photo.
You can see the Lafayette Yard coaling tower in the distance.
Also below is a similar picture.

Thanks for the answers. You guys are awesome (and quick).

Looks like a gon between the caboose and coach. The coaches are the 60' series that were used to move employees and also used on fan trips along with gons.
