More photos from the Lake States Archives, this time from the O.H. Means collection. These photos were taken in 1924 of 4-6-2's 420 and 432 at C&WI's 51st St. facilities, where Monon engines were serviced and turned during the steam era.

For those unfamiliar with the C&WI, I've added this aerial photo that pinpoints where these particular photos were taken. The auxiliary turntable to the right of the huge roundhouse is adjacent to where Pacific 420 is shown, and the silos at the left edge of the photo are in the background of the Pacific 432 photo.

I just realized the text string on the second photo link is a verboten combination. If you click on the top link and "right arrow" on their site, you'll see the second photo.

Very interesting!

Eric,
The last 11 digits in the forbidden URL are i-qNWG[not allowed]S/A. Hope that helps folks construct the entire URL for the Monon #432.

I think the string has a “bee” and a “jay” next to each other. That’s why it flags it as “not allowed”.
