Title: Group of men eating inside Monon RR car
Post by: Joe Land on February 28, 2012, 08:25:09 pm
This photo is captioned " Inside Monon Diner 1954". My question is: is it a diner car or one of the business cars.
Photo from another website, Dennis Matthews collection.

I've seen this picture with the caption stating it was at the dedication of the new Monon depot.  If you look out the window, you can see the Michigan City branch tracks.  It was probably a dining car.

Thanks Mike.
Like I said, this came from a different website and I have reason to question the captioning of all photos listed as Monon photos.

The version of this picture that I have
identifies it as a diner lounge in 1953.

At the table where Glasses Guy is sitting, the 2nd drinking glass to the left
may have a Monon "M" on it.

Also, in the background over the shoulder of the waiter,
the picture on the wall may be of a Thoroughbred horse
(see attached as well).
