Title: Murder of Gosport agent James S. Johns
Post by: Ron Marquardt on March 09, 2012, 08:16:42 pm
Many of you have heard this story before, but for those who haven't, I have attached a Word file containing newspaper articles reporting the murder of Gosport station agent James S. Johns on April 30, 1847.  We have been trying to locate his gravesite in the Gosport cemetary for several months, and finally this afternoon, with the help of Connie Brock who manages the cemetary, we finally located his grave.  For those of you who were on the Gosport Convention tour several years ago, this is the same cemetary where we parked to walk down to the overhead bridge at Gosport Junction.

I don't have any record of where I originally got these articles.  They no doubt came from one of our members, probably John Butler or Keith Greasby.  / Ron
