Title: Caboose #81506
Post by: Mike Lehman on May 21, 2012, 03:21:40 pm
I found an old Polaroid of Monon caboose #81506 taken in 1970. The location is a quarry southwest of Bloomington on the Clear Creek branch. The caboose is taken facing north just west of the Rockport Road crossing into the mill. There was another crossing into the quarry up the hill to the north of this location. I forget the name of the mill, but we lived just south of it on the east/west road that t-eed into Rockport Road from the west, if that helps someone else identify the quarry.

The pic shows a brakeman, but not sure if he can be identified.

I have one of one of the RS-2s, taken at the same time, but don't know where it is. Quality will be just as iffy if I do find it, but at least what's there is now preserved for posterity on 81506

EDIT: I believe that the east/west road on the south side of the mill we lived on was Fullerton Pike, which intersected with Rockport Road. Just not trusting my 5+ decade old memory.
