That is a great shot looking north.  I have not seen to many from that angle.  I wish it still looked like that.

Here's a photo I took last month while in Hammond. The old Mayflower storage building and Monon Milepost 21 are about all that's recognizable in comparison. The Erie mainline was just beyond the line of trees to the right, now a bike trail.

The streets that cross there are Lyman and Douglas.

Here's a photo I took in 1961 from nearly the same spot.

This one is looking South at the same milepost as in my previous picture. You can see the entire length of the platform. The station was just beyond where the ambulance is parked. The ties at left were torn out very recently based on the lack of weeds or grass in the turned soil.

Look at that photo and it brings back memories of standing on the platform with my Grandpa watching trains on the Monon and Erie. The occasion was a visit to visit Grandpa's brother who was a patient at St. Margarets Hospital. This would have been 1964-65.

Here are some photos of the old Monon/ Erie depot site. The first was taken in the late 70's by Mark Stanek. In it, you clearly see the platform and foundation.

The next two shot are ones I shot in 2002, on one of my visits to Hammond. Back then the depot foundation was still there. There was also some rail still remaining, but as you can see, overgrown with weds and trees.
