Title: Monon #19
Post by: Mark Baker on July 24, 2012, 11:11:40 pm
#19 made its first public appearance this past Sat. at the Illiana Antique Power show. It was followed by a rider car and gon.
The loco and gon was built by Steve Morris. The rider car is in progress and is scratch built on a Mountain Car Co. 40 ft. flat kit.

Gene,

The 3 day show was the Antique Power Assc's annual show featuring Oliver tractors in Rainsville. The 7.5 inch gauge track is the Pine Creek and Western club which has about a half mile of track around the show grounds. The loco belongs to my wife and I. We had it built by Morris
Railway Supply. It took about 8 months to build. It has a 5 hp gas engine and hydrostatic trans. The paint and lettering were done in Laf. It is very close to an SW9. I wanted a Monon loco and chose the open switcher number. The rider car will get a roof and ladders and grabs and I will detail the windows and doors also. It may be harder to transport but, its alot easier to work with than "N" scale.
Let me know if you want to join the club or if you have more questions.

That is a nice looking piece ! The hydro makes a simple drive line. It is small and fairly quiet.
It also solves the brake problem.
Thanks for the show and tell.

Mark,

Morris makes reliable engines,  you will be happy with it.

Bring it and your train on down to my place too.   I talk to Charlie Lupinek once in a while from up there.
