Title: Salt Creek Bridge
Post by: George Lortz on September 06, 2012, 12:54:31 pm
Where did the B&B Branch cross Salt Creek?  The best I can tell is that it was just northwest of Bedford.  I'm interested in what the closest town was to this bridge site.

B&B mainline crossed Salt Creek at MP C 3.9. Reeds was at MP C 5.2, but I am not sure Reeds was ever a town. Avoca was at MP C 6.2, so Salt Creek bridge was closer to Avoca than Bedford.

Thought this marked up map might help.

George, are you needing this information for a database entry?  If so, show it as Dark Hollow (DarkHo) and note under comments that it is the B&B main line bridge.  The bridge is actually at MP C3.9 (0000C3.9)  / Ron

Picture of town of Reed Station underwater.  The B&B track is under water there somewhere.  I think on the other side of the buildings.

Interesting article Pete.  Do we know what paper it was from?  / Ron

No, but given the date and localness of the story one could assume it was Bedford.
