Well, another old friend has ridden the night train.  Ben Busch, south end Monon engineer, died Sunday, September 11.  Ben was a very nice guy, and those of us in the Monon family who knew and worked with him are saddened by his passing.  Rest in peace old friend.  / Ron

Bernard L. "Ben" Busch, age 74 of Bloomington passed away Sunday evening September 9, 2012 at  his residence. He was born in Bedford to Jacob and Lena Blackwell Busch on January 27, 1938. Bernard was a graduate of Bedford High School and spent his working career as a locomotive engineer ending with his retirement in 1998 from CSX. His family fondly remembers him as an avid supporter of the Springville Park, in Springville, Indiana.

Bernard leaves behind his daughter Kelly A. Moore and her husband (John) Greg of Kokomo; daughter April Busch and her husband Chris Maravich of Chicago; grandson Jonathan Martin Moore of Bloomington, and grandson Kyle Moore of Kokomo. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 50 years Ida Jeanette "Janie" Fields Busch.

A Memorial Gathering to celebrate Bernard's life will be held Saturday September 15, 2012 from 3:00PM until 5:00PM at Allen Funeral Home 4155 South Old Highway 37. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and online condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenfuneralhome.org (http://www.allenfuneralhome.org).

Per instructions from the funeral home, a sympathy card addressed to "the Busch Family" has been mailed to the funeral home.  In addition a message of sympathy has been posted on the funeral home web site.
