Title: Diesel Horns
Post by: Roger Nulton on October 27, 2012, 09:10:05 pm
I have just installed DCC sound in one of my Monon RS-2's.  There is an opportunity to select from various types of horns built in to the electronics.  Not knowing any better, I have used the default horn sound, a Wabco A2.

Does anyone know which airhorn the Monon used?  I have to get this right in case any ex Monon engineer's show up here in my basement in Tacoma, WA!

Thanks

Real loud one Roger. As I recall from my childhood. Just kidding.

First of all Roger, I wouldn't let an ex-Monon engineer in my basement, Tacoma or otherwise.  Secondly, what make you think an old engineer would remember what a horn sounded like that they hadn't heard for 40 years??  LOL,  / Ron

PS, your modeling work is beautiful.  I always look forward to seeing pictures of your layout.

Here's a site with a lot of horn information:

Thanks, Steve,

Yes, it was a Soundtraxx decoder that I am installing in my RS-2.  Unfortunately, they don't list my favorite railroad in their manual.  Since Ron's hearing is probably shot, I guess I'll just pick the one that sounds coolest<g>.  And Tom, you can be sure it's loud.

Ron, you're always welcome in my basement.  Thanks!
