Title: Howesville Bridge
Post by: George Lortz on November 30, 2012, 03:15:10 pm
The attached photo is of a bridge near Howesville on the I&L Branch.  What is the name of the body of water that the bridge crosses?

I believe that is the Eel River, not to be confused with the Eel River in northern Indiana.

The other Eel River runs into the Wabash River at Logansport.

I've been looking for a picture of the new bridge over the Kankakee at Wilders.  They must be almost as rare as the bridge at Howesville.

That photo is the Eel River bridge on the I&L.  What is sometimes even more confusing is that some of the railroaders referred to the Mill Creek bridge north of Wallace Jct. as Eel River, but that was not correct.  I believe Dave Ritenour took that picture, either he or Dick Fontaine.  / Ron
