The following posting was made to the NCIR@yahoogroups.com chat room:
"Word has it that IHB will close Calumet tower in March of this year. New signal bridges and electronic equipment will be installed soon. The tower is in East Chicago at the crossing of EJE's Whiting branch, IHB's Kankakee Line and CSX/BOCT's ex-B&O mainline.
"There is a tower a couple of miles NE of Calumet on the EJE which controls the draw bridge. Is that still open?
"Well, sort of. If the bridge has to be lowered, someone drives out there to do it. Otherwise, it's unoccupied."
