Today's JC has the obituary of Phillip Cletus Swisher who retired from the Monon in 1966. There are no immediate survivors so no card will be mailed. Message will be posted to funeral home web site.
I vaguely remember Phil. I remember his dad Pat Swisher who worked in Hammond and came home weekends.

Phillip Swisher, 85
Phillip Cletus Swisher, 85, of Delphi, passed away on Wed., May 8, 2013 at 10:22 a.m. at IU White Memorial Hospital, Monticello.
He was born on Feb. 26, 1928 in Monon to the late Elba W. and Mary (Brown) Swisher. He was a 1946 graduate of Monon High School.
Phillip served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He had served on the USS Roanoke.
He retired in 1966 from the Monon Railroad.
Mr. Swisher was an avid IU basketball fan.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews and his friend, Jerry Lowry whom he had been living with. He was preceded by his parents, 2 brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral mass at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi. Father Peter Vanderkolk officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery, Lafayette. Military Graveside Rites by the Delphi & Camden American Legions and Delphi VFW.
