Title: New Albany roundhouse
Post by: Tim T Swan on May 27, 2013, 06:00:40 pm
Attached is a 1979 Tom Rankin photo of the MONON roundhouse at New Albany, well after it was sold and converted to other commercial uses.  Other than this, and one other taken by Tom on the same day, I've never seen any other photos of this building.  Does anybody have photos showing it back in MONON days?

Tim,

There are two aerial photographs of the roundhouse in Dave Longest book "The Monon Railroad in Southern Indiana" pages 22 and 23.

I took this photo in Aug. 2007, as I was allowed to tour the B. L. Curry Veneer (formerly Monon Veneer) property for research for my book, The Monon Railroad in Southern Indiana.  This shows what was then left of the brick wall of the Monon Roundhouse in New Albany.
