MONON in print

Kudos to Roger Nulton for the great spread on his S-scale MONON in the August Railroad Model Craftsman!  Great modeling, Roger!!!

There's also some MONON content in the current issue of Passenger Train Journal.  An article about Amtrak's Hoosier State service, some history of Chicago-Indy service, the coming demise of the Cardinal, and the Hoosier State's future, IF any.  Includes a photo of the Hoosier State passing Linden, and a c1960 photo of a 3-car outbound Hoosier swinging southeast at 130th St. toward Stateline Junction and home rails.

Which brings to mind a question: Without any Amtrak service to Indy, how will its cars be transferred to and from Beech Grove?  Or is Amtrak closing Beech Grove?  Anybody know?

I think they got the story backwards.  The Cardinal is not in danger, it is a long haul train.  The Hoosier State is the one in danger, and yes it is the car ferry to Beech Grove repair shops.
