Help an old guy out.  The Monon ran along the west side of the State Fairgrounds which is near the Boulevard Station.  If memory serves me, the ITM used to (still?) ran State Fair trains...I remember steam and diesel.  Looking at Google Earth, their tracks (old NKP) are east of Fall Creek.  How did the passengers get to the Fair...walk...swim?  ?
Bonus question!  When did the Monon stop using the Broad Ripple Station?  Do we have any photos?  I don't recall seeing any.  But I don't remember what I had for breakfast....

The ITM uses the old Nickel Plate route from their "new Station" in Noblesville to the Fairgrounds. Passengers walk across a bridge and Fall Creek Parkway at a traffic signal where they show pre purchased tickets (on the train or in the city) or buy standard Fairgrounds admission tickets at the gate.

The ITM runs the "Fair Train" from Fishers to the "fairgrounds" with the riders crossing on the old 39th street bridge? before entering the fair. The old NKP used to have a spur that came off the line on the west side of Fall Creak that entered the fairgrounds. They still run the trip as it is one of their most popular/profitable runs.
