Monon related: Planet Hammond Timeline
« on: June 11, 2013, 09:15:18 pm »
I will post pictures in this folder from the Facebook site "Planet Hammond". I've already found several that are viewer submitted that I don't think have been seen outside the poster's family photo album. The quality usually isn't great, but as a source of unseen photos I really don't mind.

Photo #1: Downtown, looking North circa late '60's maybe 1970. The train at left is the Monon, and there is an Erie-Lackawanna
freight southbound to the right. Boy, the automobile traffic just can't seen to get a break! Not until the 1980's anyway

Photo #2 is at South Hammond yard, near where the old yard office used to stand in the south end of the yard. Also probably circa late '60's to 1971. It's a poor photo that I "iphoto edited" as best I could. The caboose track and RIP track are visible, as is the Hammond water tower for reference.

More to come.
