Hammond Freight Station

I recently stumbled on this aerial photo from 1926 showing part of the Erie yard in Hammond. The quality is poor but what caught my eye was the Monon trackage in the lower center. It appears to be a freight house with a fair number of tracks and capacity. I was unaware that the Monon had this facility. Was this built after the original Monon freight house a little farther north (Fayette St I think) proved to be inadequate? Did the yard shown also support the Conkey industrial track?
