The rain came to Logansport before 765 but had stopped by the time she came through Delphi. We were at the McDonald's by the track in Delphi when the train went through. The old guys in there couldn't believe what they heard and saw when NKP 765 whistled and came by.
The attached is from the service stop at Attica, Ind. between 1 and 2 PM. There was a slow order at Lafayette Junction so we were able to get to Attica about the same time the the train arrived. There are two NS Heritage units in the consist, Illinois Terminal 1072 and Wabash 1070. 1070 was dead, but 1072 was idleing. Neither are used for power, just the 2-8-4 doing all the work. The desiels are MUed to the steam locomotive so the engineer can control the desiels if necessary.
I've been told that the Norfolk Southern has a 40 mph limit on steam locomotives, but I don't think anyone has told the engineer.
The train will come back through Lafayette on Tuesday.
I talked to an exMRHTS member from Greencastle in Attica at the stop and I suggested that he renew his membership. He has a Monon plate on the front of his truck and I was wearing my MONON t-shirt.
