« on: October 18, 2013, 09:44:58 am »
NKP 765 will be running an excursion from Ft. Wayne to Lafayette, IN on Oct 26th and 27th, arrival in Lafayette about noon. Purdue Railroad Club will be open to the public on Oct 26th (see attached PDF).

Excursion riders will be bused from the NS yard to downtown.  The track next to the Amtrak platform is CSX and the excursion is on the Norfolk Southern.

[not allowed]. That figures. I'll be sitting at two train shows that weekend. One Saturday here in South Bend and Sunday over in Lowell, Indiana.

Details on both shows are posted on the www.monon.org web site.

If there is anyone in Northeast Indiana, or anyone who can get to New Haven by 7:30, who would like to ride in standard coach (NS 47) on the NKP 765 steam excursion out of Fort Wayne on Sunday, Oct. 27th, email me at skw.monon@yahoo.com.  I have two extra tickets.  If there is more than one message I'll pick the earliest reply first.

Sunday was a great day for riding behind a steam excursion across Indiana. I took the attached photos after we arrived at the Norfolk Southern's East Yard in Lafayette.  She's over IN 25 near US 52. After taking on water the train was backed up for a better photo opportunity.  No diesel helper and a couple of Iowa Pacific Holding's full dome cars near the rear.  NS put the west bound freights on the sidings so we had no stops on the return to Fort Wayne (except for a pilot change in Peru).

Here's a link to a shot at Logansport:
