Verna D. Clary age 89 of Bloomington passed away Monday afternoon March 30, 2015 at Meadowwood Health Pavilion. He was born in Somerset, Kentucky April 1, 1925 to Delbert Gosset Clary and Willie McBeath Clary.

Verna was a graduate of Fowler High School in Fowler, Indiana. After his service in South America and the United States as a telegraph operator for the Navy in World War II, he went to work for the "Big Four" railway operators, also in telecommunications. He moved to the Monon Line in 1953 and continued with them as the company migrated into what now is known as CSX. After 37 years of rail work, he retired in September of 1983.

Verna was so very proud of his family and cherished the time he got to spend with them.  When he wasn't golfing he and his late wife Goldie enjoyed square dancing, collecting numerous  awards along the way.

Verna leaves behind his children David A. Clary and wife Bea of Roswell, New Mexico, Sandra Murray and husband Michael of Crossville, Tennessee, and Philip Clary and wife Dorothy of Bloomfield.  He was grandpa to Jesse Clary and his wife Dori, Kevin Murray, Kirk Murray and his wife Wim, Allison Clary, and Alex Clary and his wife Stephanie, as well as six great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Gertrude Robinson Clary.

Allen Funeral Home and Crematory 4155 South Old Highway 37 is handling the arrangements and online condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenfuneralhome.org.

RIP, Vern.  Vern was a dispatcher whom I trained with, and was later Chief Dispatcher at Lafayette.
