Searching
« on: February 26, 2012, 03:19:39 pm »
How does the "Search" function work on the MononBoard?  I've been trying to locate a thread about yard operations at South Hammond for several days now.  I answered the poster's question and included photos but I can't find any of it now.  Entering "Hammond" or "South Hammond" in the Search box gets me nothing, even though I KNOW there have been several postings concerning Hammond.  HELP!

Tim,  You won't find it.   I already plead guilty on this board for accidently deleting it while trying to move it to the new category of Operations that you asked me to create.  There were only two posts, the orginal and one answer.  I am sorry, I did it.  You will not find it.

Understood, Pete, but I've also been trying to locate a thread about Wallace Junction.  Was it the other one you erroneously deleted?

There were a number of other posts about "Hammond", BTW, such as "1960's in Hammond" and "Hammond 1964",  Both are still there under "Passenger Trains" and are NOT deleted.  So I still don't understand why a search of "Hammond" generates zero responses.

Don Kuhlman, you asked the South Hammond yards question.  It was a great question and I'd like to include it in the THL Q&A section.  I can't remember exactly what you wanted to know (even though I answered all points--Senior Moment!).  Can you ask it again?

Tim,  I just clicked on "home page" and put "Hammond" into the seach window at the top right and it returned a Dozen hits on the word hammond in a dozen Topics, so I don't know what you are doing wrong. Unless you are not performing the search from the "Home Page"

Pete, Tim and all, that must be the secret.  I just did a search on Yeoman.  Worked fine from the Home page, but would not work from anywhere else I tried.  / Ron

No secret.  When you are on the home page you are at the beginning of the board so it searches the whole board.  When you are down in a category or topic the search is going to only be in the area where you are.

For a "Global Search" if you want to put it that way covering the entire board, do it from the home page.

Hi folks. I don't know how I missed these posts about the thread I started on the South Hammond yards. Sorry for the very late reply.  Anyway, I'm quoting the original post below for reference.

I'm having a senior moment too as I don't have the exact text of my original question, so I'll go over to the Operations Topic and put together a new post.

Thanks for the replies in any case!
