Observation Cars on the Monon
« on: March 22, 2012, 11:42:28 am »
Did the Monon ever operate a tapered-end observation car on Trains 5/6?  I thought I saw such a car several times in 1963 or early '64 going through Lowell.  This might be just the imagination or wishful thinking of a nine-year-old, but I've always wondered if I really saw such a car.

Whatever it was it was gone by late 1964, when all consists became all black and gold.

I do not remember any. Then again I was very young and probably would not have known one anyway. Now, I do recall what I know now were Business Cars on the passenger trains. Tried to pelt one with tomatoes once north of Mill Street, but they were moving too fast.

How about a nice pic of a Monon observation car - see attached pic of car 72.
