Tate & Lyle has acquired the grain elevator in Francesville formerly owned and operated by Overmyer Grain Co.

With the acquisition, Tate & Lyle now operates 13 grain elevators throughout the Midwest, including two in Indiana, the company announced this week.
The Francesville facility, approximately 42 miles north of Lafayette in Pulaski County, has up to 2.6 million bushels of capacity and will service Tate & Lyle's two Lafayette processing plants, which use corn to produce a broad range of starches and sweeteners. The elevator is adjacent to a CSX rail line that passes through Lafayette.
According to a Tate & Lyle press release, the company is looking forward to meeting customers' needs in this new territory.
"This facility is a true reflection of our commitment to the local farmers of this area and the quality of product they provide," said Kris Roberts, vice president of U.S. corn procurement.

"The addition of the Francesville elevator will allow another point of access to our producers as well as allow us to better service the plants we already have operating nearby."

Good by CSX  ?
This allows T & L to buy corn at harvest prices and store it until they need it.
When the market goes up during the winter they have cheaper corn for the process. also, it is "on demand". That is they can get several thousand bushels by truck in a short order.

This is my non-expert opinion---

I believe you are thinking the same thing I'm thinking, Gene.  Less traffic for CSX?
