Mystery Depot Picture
« on: April 12, 2012, 10:15:30 pm »
I was going through some of Dave Ritenour's depot pictures this evening, and I came across what I think is probably the most unusual Monon depot picture I've ever seen.  As was his way, he had it properly labeled, but I thought it might make a good "where am I" picture, so here it is.  Unless you seen it before, you won't believe it when you find out where it is.  / Ron

PS, no....  it's not Murdock.

Paisley, Indiana depot. The gentleman pictured is the agent, Harrison Ford. Though exact data is unknown. The depot was rumored to be only six foot by six foot. This is one of the few known pictures of the depot. Ann Zimmerman and the Lake Of The Red Cedars Museum sent me a copy from their Archives that is on the Bygone Monon web site.  Nice picture Ron.

Good one Tom.  I don't know how I missed it on your website?  Can you hazard a guess as to the approximate time frame?  / Ron

Ron

The Museum had the date somewhere between 1890 and 1899. In 1890 a Post Office was established at Paisley and in 1899, the name of the town was changed to Cedar Lake. That gives you a nice size ballpark.

Neat old photo.  What is that concrete-like thing on the right, that the depot seems to be leaning against?

Kinda looks like another part of the building that sticks out farther than the part he's standing in.  That mail box looks like it's partly covered up too.  / Ron
