Special Excursion

Les Beckman sent me these two shots of a special employee or railfan special at Monon, Indiana, late 1940's, early 1950's. No exact date is listed. They are from the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum from the collection of Bob Albert.

Great shots Tom!  Thank you for sharing them.  The date might be pretty easy to lock in.  The RSs were delivered in 1947 and the water tank was down by the end of 1948.

Thanks Mike for the date that the tower came down.   I have no recollection of that tower but I know it was there at one time.  But then I would have been 10 years old at the time it came down.  The second photo has me really confused because I cannot see anything in the photo to help me identify the location.  I'm not saying it wasn't Monon.  I just can't remember the location.

I wondered if the second photo was Monon too.  In fact, looking at the photo yet again, I do believe it is at Michigan City. Here is another shot of the train, that I know is Michigan City, IN. The Pullman Standard Plant is off to the right.
