I can't see it at ALL.
But according to Hilton, Class J4 #578 was built in October, 1929 and sold in June, 1948 to the TA&G. The J4's were MONON's last new steam locomotives, powerful brutes equipped with steam boosters under their tenders. If #578 has "MONON" centered on the tender side, it's probably a pre-war photo. If she does NOT have a Worthington Feedwater Heater (rectangular box atop the smokebox ahead of the stack) or a "switcher" (step) pilot, it is probably early 1930's. If the "MONON" is painted high up on the tender side with a large "578" centered on the side, it is a late- or post-war photo.
