Today's edition of the Lafayette JC contains the obituary of Lyle Shockey age 88. Mr Shockey was a retired car inspector for the Monon.
Lyle E. Shockey, 88
Lyle E. Shockey, 88, of Delphi, died Fri.-Feb. 22, 2013, at 8:50am, at IU Health Arnett Hospital. He was born Oct 9, 1924 in Delphi, to the late Edward & Rose Knight Shockey. His marriage was to Marjorie A. Mack in Lafayette, on Aug 26, 1946, and she survives. He attended the Old Jefferson High School, and was a U.S. Army SGT., WW II Veteran, stationed in the South Pacific. He worked for over 25 years for the Monon Railroad as a car inspector. He was a member of the Oakdale Conservation Club and the Delphi American Legion. He loved to fish; travel in his RV; and enjoyed watching Purdue men's & Indiana men's basketball.
Surviving are his wife: Marjorie A. Shockey, Delphi, son Dennis (Debbie) Shockey, Delphi, granddaughters: Marjorie Ann & Amanda, stepgrandchildren: Lana Crum & Richard Goris Jr., great-grandsons: Xzavier & Jeromiah, 5 stepgreat-grandchildren. Services: Friends may call 10am Tuesday until his funeral at 11am at Abbott Funeral Home-Delphi. His close friend Charles Schrader will officiate. Military rites by the Delphi & Camden American Legions & Delphi VFW. Private family interment. Online condolences:
