Bluford Shops "Monon" Transfer Caboose 81551/81552
« on: February 28, 2013, 01:13:16 am »
I was excited to get an email about this:

http://www.bluford-shops.com/bluford_93_036.htm

Then I looked closely.  The windows are all wrong.  There should be 3 rounded windows on each side, with the center window a slide-over.  Monon In Color has some nice pictures with which to compare. If I was them, I would have done 81552 in boxcar red with the simplified herald.  I also think the sides should be smoother than this model (if you click around their site you can find close-up photos of the undecorated version).

Has anyone bought one of these?  How hard is to make this model more prototypical if one starts with the undecorated version?

If you want an accurate N scale Monon transfer caboose, check out what's available by linking to:

These are built from scratch after an order.

Blueford is a manufacturer who does the same design and releases them in many railroad names. They have good products, but if you are looking for an HO scale Transfer, contact Chad Boas. He made them as resin kits and may have one left over, or can cast additional. The N scale ones that Stew spoke of are great. Saw them last year at French Lick and they were fantastic.
