Karl Eldon Childers
Karl Eldon Childers, 68, of Lafayette, formerly of Brookston, passed away at 5:53 a.m. on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at St. Elizabeth East Hospital. Born May 20, 1945 in Lafayette, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mary (Hanaman) Childers. He was a 1963 graduate of Frontier High School.
His marriage was to Cathy Lynn Chafin on September 13, 1969 in Battle Ground, IN and she survives. Karl worked for the railroad as a switchman and train master for 12 years. His hobbies included fishing, watching T.V. and doing crossword puzzles. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving with his wife are their children, Cindy J. Estes (husband, Marc) of West Lafayette, IN, Scott E. Childers (wife, Sunni) of Williamsport, IN and Mandy K. Childers of Dayton, IN; and seven grandchildren, Kaitlynn, Kourteney, and Kelsey Brooke, Logan, Nicholle, and Ashleigh Childers, and Jaden Coombs. He was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth Childers.
Visitation from 1 p.m. until the service at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Hippensteel Funeral Home with Lori Kerr officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Liver Association. Hippensteel Funeral Home entrusted with care.
