Being a former Monon employee, this section of the Chatroom has a special significance for me, and I've always believed that only death notices, obituarys, and condolances should be posted here.
However, this week I found something special that I wanted to share, and although this employee has been gone for a number of years, this seemed like the perfect place to remember him.
Lloyd Kimble was an agent/operator on the Monon, a fine photographer, and a collector of Monon pictures. Following his death in 1995, his entire collection was donated to our Society, and we have so far offered his work on two CD's, with more to follow in the near future.
I learned a few months ago that Lloyd was buried in a small cemetary several miles west of Spencer, just south of his hometown in Arney, In., and so this week, accompanied by fellow MRHTS member Geof Burns who was visiting from California, I went to pay my respects to Lloyd.
Attached are pictures of Lloyd in life, and pictures of his gravestone at the cemetary. Those of us who were fortunate enough to know him will remember him as a class act, and those who learn of him only from his gravestone will no doubt agree with us. Lloyd did himself proud.
Rest In Peace, old friend. / Ron
