company vehicles
« on: November 22, 2013, 07:05:31 am »
The old listserv posted a question about company cars. While looking thru the Aug. 2012 THL, page 12, I noticed a parked Plymouth headed in the direction of the camera. I believe this was a company car. I have seen other photos showing Dodge and Plymouth cars and Ford trucks in the 40's--50's

I think they also had a few Studebakers.

I have this shot of a company car, and one of a pickup: probably from the pic list.

Thanks Roger. Now, if Tom could come up with a photo of a Studie ------

There is a shot of one in one of the films crossing in front of an F unit powered passenger train at a station stop at Rensselear

I believe this is a Monon MoW truck.  Not sure when the photo was taken, but I believe I found it in a magazine.  Don't know the make of the truck.

The truck is a 1958 or 1959 Chevrolet.

Is that a 49 - 50 Pontiac in front of the TOFC ramp ?

I'm wanting to add some vehicles to my layout.  All I had to do was rattle the bushes--- Thanks

It is a Pontiac from the 1949/1952 period. The photo is not clear enough to tell which year for certain.

No picture but here’s a bit of information from memory.

The summer of 1956 the extra gang use a "stake" truck to haul most everything. Including the crew from the Rensselaer Depot to the Surrey "Hilton" AKA Camp Cars. Also to and from the job sites each day.

Okay, my computer only has these pics  in black and white. Any idea what the base color is? Sounds like a good home bound, winter project. Thanks and happy Thanksgiving. Ron S.

Ron

I remember the trucks were red.
Car company colors  of that era were only about 6 or 8 choices.
