So Tom, on their website they note a May 2016 announcement date and due date of "late April" - do they mean immediate release or April 2017?

Sorry, disregard my last post - elsewhere on the Athearn site I see they state April 2017 expected delivery.

It has become the norm these days Kevin. They announce products a year or so in advance and take reservations. And, just because it says a delivery date, that does not mean I will have them on that date.

Understood.  In building my Monon First Sub layout and working with suppliers for a fairly substantial purchase of cork roadbed, track, DCC system, structures, etc., I find many to be surprisingly unresponsive and candidly really poor business people.  My local hobby retailer actually told me my order was too large to bother their staff with!  That said, I am a huge fan of Spring Creek Model Trains in Deshler, NE.  Deb and Dave Zucker could teach the rest of the hobby retailers a thing or two about responsiveness and how to take care of their customers!

This car was produced a few years ago.  You might find some on Ebay or a hobby shop.  I have some.

Kevin,

For what its worth I have had great experience with Southern Digital for DCC needs:  www.sodigi.com.  I assume you have been down to Caboose Hobbies in Denver.  A favorite stop (of mine) on our summer trips to Eldora.  Assume for browsing, I've never mail-ordered from them though.

I've been to Caboose Hobbies a couple of times in the 90s.  I've bought on line from them several times and they are very prompt getting orders in the mail.  They are a great source for Tahoe Model Works trucks especially caboose trucks.

Yep Mike, I've been to Caboose Hobbies more times than I can count.  They are the local retailer I refer to in the post above.   Still supposedly the largest model railroad hobby shop in the world in terms of square feet, but it seems that Spring Creek has them beat in terms of depth of inventory - especially in HO.  Unfortunately, Caboose seems to be slipping a bit of late, but it's still a great place to browse, for sure!

Well, news has come down the pipeline that the HO and N scale PS2 hoppers are about 2 weeks away.  As soon as I received our order, they will be in the store.

In case you did not preorder your HO and N scale Monon PS2 hoppers from you local hobby supplier, we will have ours Thursday. There are 3 road numbers available in each scale. These are in limited supply.
