This notice and a few photos were posted on the Indiana Railroads Bull Session. Look under "Modern Photos".

Sad to see this structure in such condition. I still have fond memories of Tom Rankin and my trip across that bridge back in 2004 before the Crawfordsville Annual Meeting. Yes, and my close encounter with a huge pissed off raccoon. Was able to walk across it twice before the damage. It would be foolish to do so now.

Ya know, I'm really disappointed in you guys.  By now I would've thunk somebody would have photoshopped the Tippecanoe tip-toeing across that mess!

Tim,
I could probably do that, but I choose instead to let the old bridge die, remembering she stood straight, tall, and strong when the Tippecanoes raced across.

I know what you are saying about crack passenger trains racing across the bridge and countryside, but , there was a speed limit on the bridge.

Cousin Mike has memories of running freight Southbound at midnight in the fog, rounding the curve and wondering if the bridge was still there. ---It always was---

I'm sure there were many other locations on the railroad with similar situations.

We always drove our work truck slow going over this bridge. The outside dually would ride on the boards on the ends of the timbers and ride up and down over every bolt. A little un-nerving the first few times over it.
